Numberless

If you woke up tomorrow and there were no such thing as numbers, what would your day be like? Can you imagine your day without numbers?!

  1. I can imagine my day without numbers I will be able to sleep all day long , and I will not be able to tell time and I will be lost and the world will be differently.

    1. I agree. The world will certainly be different without numbers! And I like the thought of sleeping all day long, haha! But without numbers, how can we measure ingredients or even spend money (if money was such a thing)?

In terms of your post, periods are a wonderful way to end a thought and commas are useful in listing words and phrases. I would change your response to “I can imagine my day without numbers. I will be able to sleep all day long, I will not be able to tell time, I will be lost, and the world will be different.”

  2. A day without numbers would be hectic because I would not be able to keep track of time and totally screw my schedule. School would be in disarray, math class would not exist, and shoppers would end up bartering for products they want without money. I would probably stay home until the day would end. I can imagine a very chaotic day without numbers.

    1. Hi Anna,

I remember hearing this from someone, but instead of using money, items were being exchanged for other items. For instance, an apple for an orange, or 2 watermelons for a pair of pants. I’m not sure exactly the “currency,” but in a way, they were still using numbers. Life would definitely be hectic. I wonder what the world would really be like if numbers did not exist. I wonder how we’re going to “purchase” items or know how long it takes for the red light to turn green.

  3. Time would really be abstract in a numberless world. We would have to know what time it is by looking at shadows, the location of the sun, and the old fashion sun dial. But even the sun dial has numbers! I would be nervous, too.
